Tape Measure Part 2 - Bobby
www.motherwelltimes.co.uk/news/transport/repairs-will-continue-at-level-crossing-over-the-weekend-1-4504499

Lorry hit the height barrier on the level crossing. The second height barrier on the exit, after passing under the height barrier on the approach.

Height of the barrier, and the signs to reflect this, all say 16 feet 6 inches.

Three local suggestions as to cause

1. Road at the exit side has recently been resurfaced
2. Crossing the hump of the railway line has caused the front of the trailer to be at an angle
3. The barrier itself had previously been damaged and never re positioned at the right height!

Poor driver was getting pelters (the other main road is closed for roadworks so this is a diversion route) until someone highlighted the trailer wasnt as high as the clearance signs!

Glad you posted that Bobby.

Someone took a photo of that and put it on Facebook and of course, the poor driver has been criticised incessantly.

It wasn't mentioned that it was the exit side of the crossing though and that he had passed under all that the barrier was there to protect safely.
