She was 26 years old and perfectly healthy in 1972 when she decided to start driving without a licence.

She was 56 and healthy when she handed over a forged licence (she had deliberately obtained) to the police to avoid being caught out in 2002.



Rather more relevant than her finally being caught at 71 when ill, surely?

My aunt drove for 60 years without having passed a test - that was legal because she bought the licence at a post office during the war. If it had been a black market forgery the effect would have been exactly the same.

More to the point is did this woman have road tax and insurance? Insurance I think is only valid if you hold or have held, a valid licence.

Years ago I got banned for a year. I was In court to get a feel for how it was going to go, when a Biker was being done for DD, Dangerous and loads of other stuff. He got a ban for 24 months, and left the court.

5 minutes later there was a VROOM VROOM from a bike outside the court windows, and we peered out to see said Biker getting on his bike and roaring away.
