Good 'eavens. I saw the new Land Rover discovery today at a local show. The rear end looks appalling. Any views?

Saw one on the motorway last week - had to double take as it went past. Looks like the back end had a stroke

Inspired by the Ssangyong Rodius.

It certainly has been hit with the ugly stick!

I wonder if its due to input from the Indian owners who may have different styling taste to UK and European drivers?

It doesn't look that bad. Mrs O'Reliant has just bought a Suzuki Liana hatch which also sports a Kim Kardashian butt. I thought it was hideous at first but it kind of grows on you (The Liana I mean, not Kim Kardashian, though hers has certainly grown on her).

The Liana is really not a looker. The Discovery is not that bad. The lack of symmetry from the rear makes it seem taller and narrower than it is, and thr rear overhang is a little excessive ...

We have a Discovery Sport at work just now - the thumb wheel for reclining the drivers seat broke off in the first week!

At least it looks as if rear vision is good.

I followed one for a while the other day. I don't know what they were thinking with that offset number plate sitting in the lop sided recess. It looks ridiculous.

Had they made it symmetrical, it would look pretty good.

Not keen myself either. But, I suppose, from the perspective of the one driving it, a bit like a fat bird in leggings, you can't actually see the back view so they might not care very much. ;-)

Isn't it supposed to echo the assymmetric rear window of previous models

I don't like it.

All Disco's have had an offset number plate, so I expect they think it is a design signature.

It's a fashion victims motor.

I can live with any external shape, no matter how hideous.

It's what it is like to sit in that matters to me. The interior is everything when it comes to aesthetics.

Hey, I do have my standards. They may be low, but...

Aye but, if you avoid looking at them from behind ( admittedly that, in and of itself, limits your options ) but y'know, ports and storms I guess...

From the rear it looks almost as bad as Barbies dream car
A cross I shall have to bear in the near future
