Don't worry, they won't be able to afford them when import duty is added in a couple of time!

On bin day, wheelie bins appear in their hundreds. A solitary wheelie bin without a house number should be just as conspicuous as a policeman with a speed gun. I hope the innards are bolted tightly to the bin floor so it can survive inadvertent 'emptying' by the recycling crew.

And theft; I can see aggrived locals bundling them into an estate car and parking them in the next county. Tee hee!

Yup, that would easily fit in the volvo. Need to spray the lens tho in case it snapped its journey.

"Wholly illegal in the U.K. Stealth cameras are prohibited. All cameras must be painted in high visibility colours and have warning notices in advance" ?
 Oh, joy! - Old Navy
Aye, right!

Our speed camera van is sometimes working concealed in a row of parked cars in small villages as are police with hand held devices. I once saw an unmarked Ford Escort van (long after most were scrap) with a speed camera fitted parked in a village.

Plod with a hand-held did me at 98mph on the A30 near the Jamaica Inn.

Going back a few years mind.

I thought the law had changed. There's some round here that have advance warning notices, but they're certainly not high vis colours.

Yes I've seen a few grey ones.

More information about speeding fines......

I have to attend my first 'Speed Awareness Course' on Monday morning. It seems that they've been having a blitz in Norfolk/Suffolk - I'm amazed that when I mention it, everybody seems to know somebody who has recently been caught.

Try to enjoy it, I assume it's cost you over £100?

Mine was more fun than I expected. Best bit was the Transit-style-van driver who said it was news to him that he wasn't allowed to do 60 on a single carriageway NSL or 70 on a dual carriageway.

They did quite a lot on observation, techniques for being speed-aware, and no telling off. They did send a woman home for being a few minutes late, who would have had to pay again.

"Try to enjoy it, I assume it's cost you over £100?.................."

Everyone I know who has done the course said that it was actually very useful and not to be viewed in a negative light. Mine has cost me £88 and, as it's turned out, is to be held in a conference room in a building about a 10 minute walk away. As I can't walk at 30mph, I should be safe from cameras!

Two tips that I've been given are 1) Be positive about it, and don't be resentful if you want to get the best out of it. I was told about one woman on a friend's course who constantly whimpered that she was 'only doing 31' and 2), as you say, Manatee, DO NOT BE LATE. The same friend said that one chap had arrived 5 minutes late and sat down. After finishing his first item, the speaker politely told him to leave and rebook for another course ......... another fee - ouch!

I attended one with SWMBO a couple of weeks ago. A young lad at the front was sent off at half time for falling asleep TWICE. Waste of £95 for him!!

My DiL's parents were telling me that their aunt had spent her 91st birthday doing a speed awareness course; she also fell asleep at one point. I'd better make sure that I go to bed early on Sunday night.

This reference is in the Mail, so those of a nervous disposition should ignore the link.....

Maybe I woz dun in the nick of time?

I found the course to be worthwhile.

There were some refresher items, some common sense tips and the videos of what happens when you speed. There was an Australian one that made a good point.

The organisation that ran the course insisted on official photo ID. No photo ID no entrance and late comers were turned away.

It was well publoised!
