Wrong! I remember 4-month tax discs.

Yes, I can remember my father applying for one by post when the renewal date fell in a "difficult" month.

I also recall an uncle who had a scheme to try to mobilise all motorists to synchronise their tax disc renewals - and then refuse to pay. This was 40 odd years ago and the 4 month period made it a slightly less crack-pot idea than the 6 month period. I guess there was anger even then at the way the revenue was used...

Re substitute tax disks.
A long while back, on a TV programme re traffic wardens, one of them said that most tax disk copies were usually easily detected as the did not have "little perforations round the edges.

little perforations round the edges.

The perforations are presumably put there to make it easy to tear off the surrounding paperwork? So why do they actually do the opposite, ripping off chunks of paper on either side of the perforated line?
I never bother now with the frustrating process of trying to extricate the disc, I just use a pair of scissors.

Totaly Sympathise, I have never been able to extract a dich without tearing of chunks of it and on either side. I too now use scissors and cut round it.

edit "Disc" not "Dich".
