 Honda Jazz/Fit - Jazz CVT - Roger.
Does anyone know when the start clutch was replaced by a torque converter equivalent in Honda's JAZZ CVT boxes?
Is there a model year, or VIN, which relates to te change?

Reading between the lines in various places, I think it was January 2011, when the i-Shift gearbox was abandoned in favour of the CVT.

CVT up to 2008?
I-shift is a automated manual till 2011 (attempt to get £0 RFL & failed on emissions & usability was poor)

CVT from 2011 2015 UK manufacture
CVT 2015 to present Japan build

Torque converter autos were made in the UK 2008-2011 BUT EXPORT only - South Africa got a 1.5 TC Jazz.

The question here is about the type of clutch used with the CVT gearbox. It can be a torque convertor or an electromagnetic clutch.

From mid 2011 the CVT used a torque convertor. The result was very smooth and imperceptible changes in gear ratios.(I have one)

The Previous CVT used an internal clutch for start/stops which tended to wear. The automated in between (I SHift) was a pig's ear giving jerky changes...and unloved by many.

Thanks. madf.
