My b-i-l is seriously looking into buying a new car. He lives outside Dublin.
Apparently pound vs euro is so favourable just now he is looking for me to find him an Audi A7 and , quite possibly, drive it over to him.
Comparable cars - Dublin 70k Euros. , Scotland £38k
He reckons all the import charges etc will be about £7k
Anyone any knowledge of this??

Cars & RFL in Eire are really expensive unless you come from Denmark where they fail to stop adding zeros to the duty.

Oddly I was going to post something yesterday - I was following a car-transporter on Irish plates heading for Holyhead - it carried a collection of late reg British cars all with accident damage on the, I wa speculating they were heading abroad for refurbishment and repair. Must be financially worth-while

In the UK Class D might be 25% less than comparable accident free car when repaired.
Bought cheaply as accident damaged car in the UK - repaired in Eire, registered in Eire & no trace of Class C/D insurance write-off..........unsuspecting punter in Dublin or wherever buys a write-off & is completely unaware of the car's history.

I think I would tell him to buy it and drive it there himself.
I mean, what could possibly go wrong?
