 Future BIK Rates - rtj70
Just over a year until I get a new car (obviously not ordered one yet). Criteria in addition to the last few cars are:

- Hatchback/fastback/estate - may need carry things for father in law in future like walking aid that might not fit in a saloon. Planning ahead for the near future just in case.
- Easier access to the car for F-i-L - he gets in/out of my wife's Seicento much easier which will be to do with the bigger doors I am assuming.

So yesterday I wandered into the VW dealer to look at the Tiguan and Passat (I had to go to B&Q which is nearby).

Tiguan seats are probably too high. But I liked the Passat GTE Estate. So I have no idea of monthly 'rental' prices but thought about BIK. A Passat Estate in GTE and GT Diesel DSG were spec'd on the website so they had similar options. List prices:

- GTE about £40k
- GT DSG diesel about £33k

But looking at BIK for a few years from now and the GTE would be taxed at 16% and the GT diesel at 31%! If I can pay up to a GTE it might be a bargain compared to what's going to happen to BIK for diesels. The GT diesel would work out at £340/month in tax!

My current A3 1.4T DSG saloon has a list price of about £31k. I pay about £180/month in tax.

You're worse than me! You have been looking at options for this new company car since the minute you drove the last one out the dealership!

At least I usually wait a month or so!!

I appreciate this is oranges & lemons territory, but my 2011 Focus is proving to be incredibly practical for the two oldies I look after. My 98yo Aunt finds it 'easy' to access the front seat. Her Zimmer frame fits easily on the back seat with my 88 yo Mom. And the wheel chair fits in the back of the hatch with space to spare.
It's proving to be a good buy.. £2k, plus £600 for belt change kit and 4 new Michelin X Climates. Genuine 56mpg thrashing the ass off it, cruising at 80/85 on duals when possible, £30 annual VED. What's not to like...?
Apart from missing my 330 sooooo much

It's a Ford Focus?

The A3 was delivered in a transporter (covered sides) to my home address ;-)

But after about a year I did start to think what was coming onto the market that wasn't an option when I ordered, e.g.the current Passat.

I should add, if it was not for the FiL requirements my next car would probably by an A3 saloon 1.4 turbo petrol with 7 speed DSG dry clutch gearbox in S-Line trim with options.
