Met an accquaintance for the first time in a few months the other day.
Last time we met he was driving a black Jaguar XK, this tiime he has a maroon one.
I asked him how much the respray was, and he told me the Jag dealer had cold-called him with an offer he couldn't refuse.
They said they were keen to buy in year old XKs - his black one - and could help with a good deal on a replacement.
Bottom line was his car and £2,000 for the new one, which is the same spec.
He's got the same model, I don't imagine for a minute it will be a 2010 spec if there is such a thing, but with zero miles on it.
Part of his reasoning was he could already see significant wear on the tyres of the old car.
I don't suppose four tyres for a Jag would be £2,000, but they might be nearly half that.
Seems to me has has been able to take advantage of high used prices to do himself a good deal.
What do others think?

Shifting tin - good deal.

..shifting tin...
Yes, I thought that.
The garage could probably have tucked up the customer for the black car with a new one, but this way they get to sell two cars instead of one.
