A few years back Nissan was rescued by Renault - for better or worse.
Mistubishi the next to share the basic platforms of Nissan & Renault.

Well, having taken a kicking over emissions, obviously their stock was at a low.
Pajero sport was a great vehicle to drive, though.
And the EVOs? Waaaaaah, what an experience.

Wasn't it Nissan that blew the whistle on them for fudging emissions sending their share price tumbling........very convenient

Not a bad outcome for Mitsubishi really. Their model range is somewhat gappy and ageing, and since their previous scandal they haven't really had the funds for serious product development.
The Nissan-Renault partnership seems to have worked on the whole, so Nissan will feel that they know what to do.
And the Chinese were never going to invest in a Japanese company were they..?!!

...so, it'll be interesting to see how this one goes, then.....

The car tax changing next year indicates that the car manufacturers have been too "good" with their Co2 and the treasury is missing out of a lot of cash. The treasury will soon make it up from next year.

South Korea's government said earlier it plans to fine the Japanese company 330 million won (£195,000; $279,920) for manipulating emissions tests.
I Imagine a 195K fine has the top brass in Japan quivering
