Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Falkirk Bairn
A Friend has a budget of £10K and wanted a Pulsar - specific model & diesel.

A garage about 100 miles way had 2 for sale £11,495 - just a bit high - what he needed was a"sale".

Up popped an advert - from until 17th April it is £500 off & 2 annual services free....... say about £900 in total....we were nearly there!!

Low & behold they have increased the screen price to £12,495 - £1000 more than the price 8 weeks ago.

Put £1,000 on to take £500 off and 2 services that cost them maybe £40......

Have a look to see if it's on ebay or elsewhere. I had a difference of £2k on prices for the same car on different places.

Bizarre behaviour - and I don't mean the dealer. If they have something you want, why not just ring them up and make an offer for it? It's doing them no good while it's going nowhere on their forecourt.

He may be interested in a new one?

The 190hp petrol turbo must be a bit of a sleeper warm hatch.

>>why not just ring them up and make an offer for it?

He's done that & got nowhere. There was a bit of an exchange over about a week but no movement even although there is no T/I.......it's roughly a 9 month old car (15 reg) with delivery miles.

My brother down in Bishop Stortford contacted me for car advice.
Long story short his local dealer had a Fiesta priced at £7500.
I told him to go in with his debit card in hand and offer £7000.
He then advised me that the dealer (main Ford dealer) also charge and admin charge on top!

I scoured Autotrader and found him four similar Fiestas which were between £6500-£7000.

He went back into dealer, showed him these and said he was prepared to go and buy one of them unless he would drop his price. Guy said he couldn't drop it because there wasn't any room for profit in it but did agree with him that this Fiesta was way over priced! He then searched their stock, found a newer spec, lower mileage Fiesta at another one of their branches, brought it over and brother bought that for £7k! (and excluded the admin charge)!

So , in my eyes
a. either someone has taken this original Fiesta as part exchange and gave too high a price for it
b. the dealer knows that someone less organised than my brother may come along and pay an over inflated price for the car!

That last may apply to the Pulsar too. It's a model that won't appeal to the kind of, erm, car snob who does the research, shops around and bargains hard; more likely to be someone local who wants a familiar brand from a local dealer. Even so, the dealer won't want to wait months for Mr or Mrs Local to come along.

Time is on the buyer's side here. This is a similar situation to the one I had with the LEC. I made my best offer, which wasn't accepted. The car went to another branch where some (real or mythical) other buyer was keen to see it. When they didn't bite either, and the car was still with the dealer four weeks later, I was offered the car for £1,000 less than I'd offered before. So just make sure the dealer knows where to find you.

The Pulsar is fabulous (looks and readup) and is high on the list as a replacement in 1.2 turbo trim.

>> The Pulsar is fabulous (looks

Really? you think so?

Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - WillDeBeest
Looks just like everyone else's smallish hatchback. A neighbour has one; I only know what it is because he parks it nose-in so I can see the badge on the tailgate. Not a thing to set your heart on, whatever its other qualities.

Very much so, but then I find my 2007 Corolla good looking.

Its inoffensive and well proportioned, but could in my eyes be a rebadged kia. I'd buy it on price and abilities, but not looks.

It is one of those oddities of life. It would be quite hard to clinically argue why a Juke was preferable to a Micra or a Qashqai was better than a Pulsar. But fashion prevails and they just are as a result. And to be honest, for reasons I can't begin to justify, I'd rather have a Juke or a Qashqai over the other two because I'm shallow and easily led I suppose.

Having driven one for a considerable number of Ks in Spain last year, I have a bit of a thing for Jukes.
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Runfer D'Hills
Girls cars though aren't they, Jukes?
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - WillDeBeest
Whereas the Qashqai just radiates manly self-assurance?
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Runfer D'Hills
No, they're a bit girly too. I was given one and I never really bonded with it. But Jukes are very feminine in my opinion.
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Zero
you need to be in touch with your feminine side.
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Runfer D'Hills
Not sure if I've got one of those, I'll check...

Have a rummage where you keep your leg razors.
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Runfer D'Hills
Haven't got any of those either, does that mean my feminine side is a lesbian?
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Alanovich
Well if not with the leg razors, it's certainly amongst your excessively large shoe collection.

;-)
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Runfer D'Hills
My shoes are not excessively large. Size 10 most of them.
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - WillDeBeest
Mine are.
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Runfer D'Hills
Do you like Jukes?
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Avant
Nissan's product strategy is a little hard to fathom. After the Almera sold poorly, they opted out of the Golf/Focus size and brought in the Qashqai, followed by the Juke, both very successfully.

So I'm not sure why they have gone back into the standard hatch market with the Pulsar, particularly as it doesn't seem to have any obvious USP. Maybe they're after fleet sales?
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Falkirk Bairn
Almera finished in 2006. New model called Tilda placed Almera throughout Europe+ Russia.

So it appears Nissan GB took the decision not to take the Tilda.

There are quite a number on the roads - Grey imports (brand new) from Eire - hatch & saloon - they sold around 2007 for about £8,000 which was competitive in that area of the market.
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Avant
Yes, I'd forgotten that: we hired one in South Africa. Like every other Nissan I've driven, it was competent but unmemorable.

In SA it was called, unpronounceably, Tiida rather than Tilda: I don't know why. Maybe Tilda is something rude in one of the SA languages.

What is a LEC?
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Avant
A Large Estate car - a German taxi to you and me.
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Runfer D'Hills
It's a colloquialism that originated here and is short for LGEC !

( Large German Estate Car ) or Mercedes E Class estate.

And LHB = large hatchback.

Been trying to think if one for an Espace but there were too many Fs and Bs

;-)
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - PeterS
I think the acronym you are looking for is LPOS ;)
Nissan - Pulsar - been watching for a price reduction - Runfer D'Hills
Still think it needs an F and a B in there too.
