The M6 southbound to Birmingham used to be congested to the M5 Junction but flowed from there down to spagetti and the M42 - at least it did at 7 am.
Now the M6 seems to be stationary at the M5 exit slip (my current route) and it is stacking up past Walsall and on Monday was stationary back past the services at 7am.
Anyone any idea why it has changed? Economy booming or something?

Immigrants.
Thought I might as well save someone else the trouble.

I guess it may have been busier on Monday due to end of the school holidays? Was the weather bad? I had an early meeting in the central South so drove down Sunday night and the rain was horrendous from Oxford on, and it was still pretty horrible down there on Monday morning.
But is it any really any busier? I used to drive M6/M5/M40 quite a bit and used to avoid the toll road as I think charging is wrong - but I always take it now and the traffic on the section you mention is invariably stopped.

I've mentioned before that congestion has definitely got worse since fuel prices fell. Might be a coincidence, but then again, it might not.

Agreed. I'm looking across the Ribble valley at the moment and there are far more sheep and lambs than normal.
I blame it on the vegetarian immigrants

Apparently sheep aren't vegetarian.

They were eating themselves in the 80s
