Autoaid / Auto National Breakdown sold to RCIB - Falkirk Bairn
Equity Red Star that run Autoaid / Auto national have sold the business to Right Choice Insurance Brokers (RCIB) as from 6th May.

Although a customer I have not used the Breakdown Services so I cannot pass comment on their admin or response times BUT they do well in surveys.

In the papers this week

AA having a hard time & are restructuring again - They lose around 20% of their breakdown customers every year....surprising @ their prices I would have thought more customers would move!

Unless they've changed, what really gets up people's noses about the AA is that they offer a low price to new members and then jack it up. When you complain, they say the good price that you can see online is only for new customers, not for the ones who stay loyal and never call them out.

I spit on the AA:)

The AA operate VW's Roadside Assistance, and I was dismayed to find our new VW only came with one year's cover.

I wonder how many people renew that? Every other car in our family - Mercedes, Honda and Mitsubishi - renews the Assistance package with each service.

Indeed. You can't have it both ways. Ultimately you are paying for every "free" offer whether it is AA membership, loan cars, or coffee and biscuits. OK as long as you realise it (or someone else is picking up the tab!)

When I get the Mitshubishi serviced for £92 and the Merc for £180, I'm not paying very much.

OK, we don't need the full pan-European etc etc coverage, but if you had to buy it, it would probably cost a couple of hundred.
