Yeah, just signed up for a Cactus.
|
That made me think of buses bouncing off padded doors.
|
Thats part of the rationale. I'd like to get the missus one, but there is no padding thick enough on the back.

Seat material is a bit too prickly for my liking ;)

Do the mirrors have padding??
Asking for a friend ye know...........

I'll let you know

Fwiw I like the Cactus. Guy I know has one, with what seems a perky enough diseasal motor. Plenty of room in the back, though seats seemed a bit underpadded for a long journey. Great big touch screen on the dash too, but I guess my mates is quite high up the range.

Ho Ho blinking Ho !
;-)

>> Yeah, just signed up for a Cactus.
Time 16:03
And at 18:13 I got an email from Citroen, with a name and contact number at my nearest Citroen dealer to arrange date and time. At 1845 I got a phone call from said contact (went to my voicemail)

Quite keen to get rid of them then.
Very good but neglected cars aren't at all rare. They should be snapped up before the punters twig.
Just wish I had the bread for a new Caractacus.
|
You can add me to the list of Cactus admirers. A proper French car - certainly the Germans would never produce anything like it. 1.2 petrol would be my choice, manual, although that would miss out on the front bench seat that comes with the (dreadful) EGS. I'm just trying to work out how we could fit one into our household.
|
It's on my short list too as the Pug 308 is coming to the end of its PCP but I really want to go back to an automatic and although they have introduced a more refined version of the awful EGC ( it may be called ETG) its still not great. Such a shame that they are not offering the 6 speed "proper" auto with the 1.2 engine that you can get on the 2008.

Dreadful gearbox, wouldn't even wish it on the Chilean spleen venter:

Ok I'll "come out"
I like the Cactus.
There, I've said it. Do your worst.
;-)
|
OK, I will come out as well. I quite like the styling of the Cactus but I will not have another french car until they can match the Japanese for reliability and ease of service / repair.
|
Quite like the concept and look. Useless for me though as max braked towing weight is 720kg.

You will not live to see 2100:-)
|
Don't they line coffins with that stuff they've stuck on the side?
|
They seem OK from what I've seen. At least Citroën dares to be different. Has to be more interesting than a Corsa.
|
I think it's the the slightly bonkers styling I like. Without that it's a fairly ordinary hatchback. Not that fairly ordinary hatchbacks are a bad thing, but I do sort of enjoy the audacity of the Cactus.
|
>> Don't they line coffins with that stuff they've stuck on the side?
If i get one I'll stick brass handles on it.
|
I wouldn't give you twopence ha'penny for one.
BoS was the conclusion I came to after a test drive.
Crack on though if bread bin on wheels is your reason d'etre.
They really are cack. Gutless motors, gimcrack trim and airbags on the outside. Good Luck !
|
Got a 24 hour test drive booked for tomorrow at 10:00. Its a 1.2 Flair.
|
Do report back, Zedder. Very interested.
|
Try and find out which output it is too, please.
|
>> Do report back, Zedder.
He might be tired after driving for 24 hrs ;)
|
Everyone's being very attentive, the dealer has been keen to throw one at me as soon as he could, Citroen HQ has just been on the phone to see if the dealer has been in touch and offered me a car and enquired if they can call me back to check how it went.
|
>> Everyone's being very attentive, ........
They must be desperate to get rid of them.
|
>>Its a 1.2 Flair.
A Citroën you say ... lets just hope it doesn't flare up then!
|
I had a 1.6 top of the range for 48hrs- liked it it in a boy-racer sort of way. Handled very well and was adequately poky. Sound system was excellent as well. Not sure if I wrote a review?
What I did not like was the tight roof line - you get so used to the easy entry of the Berlingo, Panda and the convertible. Rear visibility is poor - just as well it was quick enough to not have anything behind:)

We had a poke around the inside of a Cactus before settling on a diesel Captur with the EDC auto box. Very pleased with the Renault so far; the Cit seemed to be a size smaller all round.

I will be interested to hear what you think of it Zero. I have got some time off later in the month so am going to try and get one for a day then.

I might try one myself, too.
Where's yer man?

Its black, with black bump pads and funky wheels. If it wasn't for the dealer decals all over it I'd be hugging and kissing it. Possibly even shagging it.
Loving it, loving it, loving it.
I think however, there is a heartbreaking end to this mills and boon romance.......
All to be revealed.
|
"I think however, there is a heartbreaking end to this mills and boon romance......."
doesn't involve a roundabout and a bus does it?
|
Sounds good, but if you buy one, you'll have to buy a "young trendy person" mask and some clothes to go with it you know. Otherwise everyone will think you're just some old geezer who's delivering it.
;-))
|
Oh dear lord, you just should see and feel the detail on the leather door door pull straps, Exquisite.
Just paired the phone, and streamed the eagles to it, fantastic audio
This is going to be a real tear jerker.

Ah come on now Zero, it's the dog, isn't it? Doesn't like the boot?
|
If the lip is too high, you could get her a little trampoline. Having said that, my wee terrier can leap in and out of the back of my wife's Qashqai no bother, so a posh hound with long legs should have little trouble with a Cactus.
Is it more that your wife ( well, most people really ) would think you were, well, a bit, sort of, "old" for one?
;-)

You'll be pleased to know the door mirrors (with optional red covers) are very firmly fixed on in this wind.
