I don't really get Mr. Bean. I've never really seen why its funny to so many.

Toe-curling embarrassing humour, smelly nosepicking stuff, not my favourite thing either.
I don't think the geezer's like that in real life though. Likes nice cars and has the bread to indulge himself a bit.

I'm with ^this geyser, so much so in fact, I abso-lutely refused to watch all of that vid.

Bean is classic slapstick. Ok its set in modern twist and context, with Atkinsons undoubtedly talented and unique facial and body expressions, but essentially its a form of entertainment and humour unchanged from that of Chaplin and Keaton.
Never did like Chaplin or Keaton. Don't like Bean therefore.

Well I like him, as himself and Mr Bean.
|
I love Chaplin and Keaton. I don't think Mr Bean does the same sort of slapstick. Perhaps he's too modern for me.
I've found Rowan Atkinson funny in other roles though. Was he in The Young Ones?

Not to my knowledge; you may be confusing him with Rik Mayall.

The difference between Rowan Atkinson and Ben Elton is that one of them is a great comedian when you can hear him, and the other when you can't.
I'll leave you to work out which is which.

Blackadder 1 did not do at all well. It was written by Rowan Atkinson
Blackadder 2 onward did very well indeed. They were written by Ben Elton.
I like Rowan Atkinson, I think Ben Elton is a git. But one can write comedy and one can't.
|
Richard Curtis was the main writer for all of them I think.
|
I think in partnership with Atkinson for the first, and then in partnership with Elton for the rest.
