Riding down a slippery slope from the office this afternoon, I took a spill from the Scooter...no damage and only injured pride - yes there is video and no I'm not uploading it. Felt a right plonker. At least wearing proper clothing resisted even the slightest bruise...:-(

Tsk. Spoilsport... you can bleep out the muffled expletives if you like. Ah go on now...

Ah, go on. Just checked the video. Nothing I could have done. Multiple distractions - people talking at me...as I rode off....hellishly slimy surface, unexpected....shoulder hurts like hell in a man sort of way...meant to go out playing tomorrow...

if you don't post a link, I am going to hit you with a FOI request.

Don't worry Rob, there's some excellent video editing software available now.
Send me the file and I'll see what I can do. Maybe change the background to a MotoGP track and add a suitable soundtrack?

to drown the muffled expletives?
There must have been some, perhaps in an arcane Celtic tongue.
(Of course I'm glad you aren't damaged except in amour-propre Rob).
Chap crashed a biggish modern bike across the road from us in the Grove. Probably stolen because he did an instant runner on the back of another bike, his mate's I suppose. There were sharp bits of plastic all over the road for a couple of days... even car tyres were a bit at risk but the crunching went on for two or three days. My expensive tyres survived because I picked my way through the debris without asking for trouble.

Actually to be accurate a scooter, but a big modern one. As was the machine the two toerags escaped on... same difference though, shards of plastic all over the road crunching for 2 or 3 days.

More or less back to normal, full mobility in all planes !.. I'll have to upload using the 'net at work (much better)...there weren't expletives in any language really. I was going over events in my mind earlier in the second of falling over, half a dozen thoughts went through my mind, mainly the expected scale of injuries - ranging from broken collar bone, broken shoulder or all of the above. Luckily I had good armour in shoulders, elbows and knees..I'm convinced their work was done ! Off testing a couple of bikes tomorrow..

I have to say GoPro video is excellent. Helmet mounted. A little too good maybe ?

go for the ones with stabiliser wheels on.

Suspect he might fall off that one.

Here it is, I managed to get the footage:

I fear he's put on a little weight.

Time the old boy admitted he's past it and bought a trike.

I reckon you're right. I managed to get a photograph of him leaving the Ducati dealership....

Expensive shards of plastic too. I've been fortunate enough to avoid a spill on mine so far, but when i bought it was as a stolen/recovered and the scrotes had ripped the front panels off to access the wiring. Being unobtainable second-hand, as they're the first bits to get trashed in a spill, it cost as much in parts to put it right as the actual bike cost me. Still a bargain though, total £600 for what was then a 4 year old Honda with only 3,000 miles on it.
|
Plenty of parts for the Majesty on e-bay - albeit in the US ! When mine expensively fails an MoT I'll strip it down and flog it on line.
|
Went out for a late evening blast on the GS - you know what they say about falling off a bike etc -dodged some heavy showers, managed to stay on tonight.

Did you make sure the frame was straight and the thing drove true Harleyman? I guess so...
Judging by the pace my Ladbroke Grove crasher must have been doing when he came off, before sliding down the road ricochetting off parked cars on both sides, those big Honda scooters are very rapid too with good acceleration. No doubt they demand a careful and restrained hand to keep them out of trouble.
I have some experience of two-wheelers but I don't like them or trust myself sufficiently to take them in my stride. They can be damn cold in the wrong weather too.
