I saw something yesterday that seemed to have had a 'smoked' treatment DIY-applied to the headlamps, which can't be legal, can it? Astra, I think, and black - of course, although that may not be how it left the factory.

Max Power magazine was advocating this trick 20 years ago... It was a cheap alternative to a 15 quid can of special black light spray.

I've a feeling some (the better?) kits had both the spray paint and uprated bulbs. But, the reflectors of course won't work too well and that is where the problems start.

Max Power, the magazine re-named by the late lamented Car and Car Conversions, as Lax Bowels...

You're right SP, the kit was called Turbo Lites IIRC.

It came with two stick-on red reflectors to keep drivers legal as well. No-one used them.
