Do the buses and lorries also suffer from same DPF issues like many cars doing short distances?

Lorries may be alright but what about buses doing mostly short low speed runs within towns?

Judging from this youtube clip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oi-Ti6Z4_nw

It would appear commercial vehicle DPFs can be dismantled and cleaned.

Do buses do short runs? They might not go far, but i think they spend a lot of time doing it.

...with the engine running almost all day. Bus gearing must be different too, to keep them in the torque band to propel the extra weight. Or something like that.

One of our trucks, an Isuzu N75, shows a light on the dash when automatic DPF regen is taking place. It only lasts for 4-5 minutes, and there is a "forced regen" button to instigate the process manually whilst the engine is idling.

As to how well this addresses the problem... this is the truck that went in to the workshop for rough running and came back with a diagnosis of AdBlue contamination in the diesel tank.

Fault subsequently traced to a loose nut behind the steering wheel then? ;-)

I often wonder if that is one reason why some manufacturers place the Adblue and diesel tanks on opposite sides of the chassis.

That and placards will help but nothing short of unique orifices with matched pump fittings will be 'murphy proof'.

Adblue caps are actually blue, to help prevent mistakes. Adblue bulk dispensers tend not to be sited in close proximity to diesel pumps; I believe this is adsvised by the industry and also by relevant authorities too. I would suggest that the main risk comes from folk who are ignorant of the fact that Adblue and diesel are not mixed in the tank; so if the stuff ever migrates to cars as a common thing, I suspect the amount of misfuels may rival those of petrol in diesel and the accompanying opposite.
