A luxury Lamborghini sports car has been destroyed and a Ferrari badly damaged when they crashed in a tunnel under Beijing, China.

Police said in a statement on Monday that both drivers were in their 20s and unemployed.

Two young drivers have been jailed over a "Fast & Furious" style race through the Chinese capital that ended in the destruction of two luxury sports cars.

The police at the time said the two men were in their 20s and unemployed, prompting speculation that they were the offspring of wealthy officials or business people.

This has since been denied by Tang's family, who said their son had bought the Lamborghini after making a fortune in the stock market. Yu is reported to have said he borrowed the Ferrari.

You should be able to work it out from the info in the news report:-

"It happened during heavy rain. Witnesses told local media that the tunnel was often used for drag racing."

i.e. speed, slippery road conditions, and being plonkers.

We're monitoring the situation. At the moment we're giving her the benefit of the doubt, but I suspect you're right. Although my usual checks haven't thrown up anything.
