Insurance time again, quotes so different !!! - bottomlesspit
Hi All,

Just got my renewal through, for me more than £320 for a 9 yr old 1ltr Yaris is too much, I have full NCB for the last 15 yrs. This is with a large motoring organisation.

So decided to check out that annoying advert, 'Go Compare'

Similiar cover through Endsliegh is £225, the only difference I can see is a £50 larger excess. Now me being slighty cautious of the lesser known brands, decided to check which actual insurance company is underwriting it and hey presto it's the same company as my current one.

Two questions:
1 Anyone out there with Endsliegh, what is your experience
2 Why such a vast differenc in price ?

Endsleigh are OK, they do a lot of students and kids.
I change insurers every year. The current one will always rack up the price when renewal comes round in the hope that you'll just roll over a pay it.

I got my Vitara down from £404 renewal to £195 with Go Compare.
That was the cheapest,,,,the dearest was £9299.00...HoHoHo !

Thats not far of my monthly payments for my Panda. I don't want to tempt fate yet and got quotes yet as it dosn't expire till the end of October.

Hopefully I can get the insurance for less than £700 a year in October. Ted I am amazed you got the insurance down so cheap, my dad pays £350 a year for his Fiesta but that is for business use etc.

Don't forget insurance companies who don't "do" moneysupermarket, goocompare, etc. Try quotes from both of those, yes - also Direct Line's own website. There may be others who also don't pay comparison sites. DL's van quote for me was a good deal better than the next best.

Don't forget Endsleigh are an insurance broker not an insurer - it might be worth asking them which of their panel of pet insurers they intend placing you with.

VB,

Yes it the same insurance company as my current broker is using hence I am surprised at the difference !

I will also try DL as mentioned above.

Liverpool Victoria (Frizzels) often come up with fair prices, i seem to recall they didn't come up on the searches.

Spelt Frizzels Swizzels, i was thinking of politicians at the time.

I stick with my current insurer ( Privilege ) because they dont take into account accidents you have as a named driver that you have when already insured with them.
I tried informing them at renewal and they assured me that it was their policy - its a good one and I like it.

My wife was with them until last week, previous £140 and renewal came through at £164.
7 yrs NCB, no accidents, I'm a named driver who had 1 speeding con. back in Oct 2005 (38 in a 30mph = 3 pts) - until March!

I informed them that I had another recent SP 30 (I didn't think 2 speeding tickets in nearly 5 years was too bad) and the £164 renewal wes requoted to £285 and the excess went from £250 voluntary to £800 compulsary.

I did manage to get it for £170 with Endsleigh despite the 2 speeding convictions.

My wife wasn't best pleased that I had bumped up her premium and threatened to take me off the policy altogether!

Elephant is usually worth a try (and I don't think they use the compare sites either).

Elephant gave me the cheapest quote last time - and I did find them via the comparison websites (though admittedly this was in September last year, so things may have changed)

If I go for online quotes will I end up getting lots of spam and/or junk mail?

..If I go for online quotes will I end up getting lots of spam and/or junk mail?..

I've never had any bother with Gocompare - think I ticked the no publicity box.

Some people on here have had junkmail problems with other comparison sites.

It is (or ought to be) a matter of course to create a new email with a free provider for just this kind of thing - then it matters not if you get loads of spam in it as you only use it on odd occasions anyway.

googlemail is good for this reason as its easy to remember
