This was proclaimed on the back cover of my Saturday newspaper magazine:
tinyurl.com/HondaEOL (link to Honda UK)

Yes, I know what it's really about but it made me wonder if the marketing people there read any of our speculation here.

Maybe. :)

I do think Honda really takes the mick with pricing here.

Take that old model CRV - £239 per month, with £6400 deposit. It's a 1.6 diesel manual.

In the US, the new model, with a 2.4 petrol auto, can be leased for $239/mth.

£1500 off a soon to be replaced CR-V wouldn't interest me much.

I ran mine during the 09 crisis. It was a great car, piled the miles on it and sold it for 3k less than I bought it for the X1 - not such a great car. I'd buy one again....we were talking last night, the Ka is a little inadequate for our needs - wife's thoughts were turning towards a Skoda Yeti....but I was mentally doodling CRV....

2015 model seems a bit bling, that might be for the Americans of course

.....and not exactly attractive - IMHO, of course ;-)

And yet drive the deal can offer one for 4.5K off

Hondas always seem a bit like Marks and Spencer's clothes to me. I mean, you'd find it hard to criticise them but y'know, you just sort of can't quite do it really. A bit Terry and June.

What's that quote?

Frankly. my dear, I don't give a damn!

Mrs BP really likes her Jazz, so much so that she didn't even want to look at anything else when it came time to change it.

But I bought another for for one of our daughters last Sept and it's not the same quaulity at all - it's the same trim level, but you can see, and feel, where corners have been cut to reduce cost.

I'm also annoyed at Honda for "making" me buy the old model - the latest model Jazz has been available everywhere else in the world for a while but won't be here until the middle of the year.

M & S is a good analogy - the car came with 5yrs service, breakdown cover and warranty, so barring anything very ususual I can just forget about it for 5 yrs. It'll just work. That means no hassle for me.

I don't know about CRV - I'm always thinking of getting a mid-size SUV but CRV's always seem to be driven by slightly posh women in their mid-50's who are probably Magistrates in their spare time. Jazz has that reputation too but if you actually look at Jazz drivers, they span a wide range. Fiesta has a higher average age owner.

You choose a car depending upon the image of others you see driving it?

So you bought a Jazz even tho you didn't want it.

Well, it was for my daughter and I thought it was worth it as it would help the average age thing a bit!

She wanted a car with a much space as possible, but no bigger than her Mitsubishi Colt. Jazz is almost identical is size (and looks). I did briefly consider Nissan Note but we just don't have any experience or affinity with Nissan or their local dealer. Jazz was an easy purchase as everything is familar ground.

In my neck of the woods Fiesta drivers are mostly quite young. Jazz drivers look well over 70.

As I understand it, although the Jazz has a reputation as an older persons car in the UK, in the far east, it's a young persons car! But to my mind, the new one looks horrid, and for that reason alone, I'll not be buying one.

I'll have you know that as a younger Jazz driver I resent that remark.

I look at most 67.. Hang on........................ I am 67..

Errr....

In our neck of the woods, Jazz drivers mainly drive at 25 in 30 limits and I have been heard to fume at "old f#rts driving a Honda Jazz" when stuck behind one... :-)

Perhaps if the Jazz in front was full of bees...

My wife was caught speeding in her Jazz (now sold). Is that a first? She has been known to use all the rev range...

I must have misread a post of yours some time ago, but I had some idea that you were one of the older posters hereabouts at 80+.

I also though that too, is madf what Armitage Shanks was?

My comments about being 80 were meant as a wind up. Obviously it failed...:-)

I am a genuine 67, never raced rallied or thrashed...one careful lady owner..

Just like me, except I have just received my first OAP driving licence renewal form from the DVLA. I hope I haven't confused them by doing it online.

I also hope the speed limit + 10% + a couple still applies. :)
