New plates are obviously available in advance. Lines of new reg cars outside garages a week before change over day have been a regular sight for years. Surprised if they're available now though.

More likley a dodgy typeface and something on lines of A815 ABC?

15 reg plates aren't until 1st March. That plate must have been something else or driving on a trade plate surely.

Possibly a foreign registered vehicle? It's not unheard of for the original EU numberplate to be misplaced whilst in the UK (stolen, seized for crime investigation etc) and a replacement to be made up using a BS 145 blank. I saw a similar thing, apparently a 16 plate, a few months ago. On closer investigation it was LHD with Romanian language window stickers. Some countries' formats are similar to ours.
