Cant see it myself. You create a text then press send and off it goes. There is no data transmission during the creation other than the normal transmission the phone emits due to being switched on.

As its all digital, I don't see where these "frequency differences" come from.

Looks a bit pointless to me.
Daily Mail looking for people to tell them how to bypass this.

If you're using a data connection the serial number, country, mobile network etc is already collected by whatever app anyway unless you've modified your phone. Even then there's probably some unique I'D other than MAC address embedded

what planet was the reporter brought up on? You would think thay would run an article like that past the 'technology correspondent', before publication. If they actually did, they should sack both!

what a load of bollards.

Seems like they've built a fancy radio 'sniffer' which is also a protocol analyser so it can sort out speech from SMS etc. Won't work terribly well for the reasons already mentioned in the thread.
