 Honda - European Breakdown Cover - maltrap
My neighbour is about to change his 10 year old Honda. The main reason for doing this is that he cannot find European breakdown cover for cars over 10 years old. Is there a company that can provide breakdown cover for vehicles this age ?

Do Honda not offer it?

Quite a few manufacturers offer European cover as long as you have the car serviced in their network. If you have had the car serviced elsewhere you can still opt back in after the next approved service.

The Honda one is UK only. It also looks fairly limited in cover, talking specifically about "breakdown". Could be an issue for cars with no spare who need recovery due to an unrepairable puncture.

I don't know about age limit for Honda but on the excellent Mitsubishi Assistance cover, that is limited to 10yrs.

Mercedes, Volvo and Ford do not appear to have an age restriction. Bit surprised at the Japanese introducing the restriction.

He really hasn't looked very hard has he.

AA European breakdown cover can be used for private cars, hire cars, motorbikes (over 200cc) and light vans of any age. With Lite and full cover, you can also cover campervans, motor caravans and minibuses.

Thanks Zero, the silly old so & so hasn't (he is 80 odd) i've been on to the AA, the cover is risk based so the older the vehicle the larger the premium.

I don't think Britannia Rescue (now owned by LV=) have a car age limit and the premium doesn't seem to vary either.

He,s driving to Zakinthos ! His partner is a non flyer. Did it last year as well.

Europ Assist always covered our more than 10-year-old Honda.
For what it's worth, I'd be more confident of an 11-year-old Honda than a new one.

That sounds like a great road trip down through Italy to Brindisi and onto the ferry to Zakynthos.
