I see they're limiting the number of vehicles to 1,000 this year!
I've been going for years (weather permitting). I no longer try driving there as the traffic's horrendous. I recommend parking at one of the stations serving Harpenden, although perhaps not Luton Parkway due to the roadworks.
I usually arrive around 3:00pm, stop for a pint at the Harpenden Arms and watch the arrivals. After an hour or so, because of the earlier pint, I'll use the facilities at the Silver Cup (and probably have another pint). I usually stop at the Inn On The Green for a last pint before heading home. If the weather's nice you can't see the cars for bodies after 5:00pm.
