 Big white "O"s - - IJWS14
Solihull are re-doing part of the A452 Chester Road and it appears to be moving from 50mph 2 lane dual to 30mph one lane dual with cycle lanes and bus pull offs.

Now at points along the road large white "O"s about 8 feet high have appeared in the remaining lane (They might be zeros).

Anyone have any idea what these are for? Streetview won't help as they have just appeared and the council have not finished work yet.

I can't quite picture these. Do you drive through them, or around them?

Garden O's ?

You won't get a standard caravan through a 8' high O.

They've always had airs in Solihull, probably trying to keep the riffraff out.

Someone should break it to them that the Olympics were in 2012 and that London got them...

Bless.

Due to the numbers of polluting four wheel drive vehicles in the area, the amount of O zone has increased

Solihull MBC are introducing 30 and 40mph speed limits on part of the Chester Road (reduced from 50mph), with 20mph speed limits and speed tables on some side roads (Carisbrooke Avenue, Craig Croft, Dunster Road, Hedingham Grove and Pomeroy Way). Also permanent cycle lanes, waiting restrictions and U turn prohibitions on the Chester Road in this area are to be implemented.

Here's one that's fallen over:

Maybe the bloke who does the 3s, 4s and 5s is off sick?

Too much to expect you lot to be serious,

Need a special kind of car to drive through them, mine goes over the top. Good job they are laid flat on the road.

Perhaps they've run out of S,L and W...although they could use an upside down M at a pinch.

Would they be the first stage of marking the limit on the road? ie: might they put '30' inside each circle at some point.

Possibly - but why not put the 30 in when they do the circle? Perhaps to avoid the outcry?

Road was 50 but has had a temporary 30 in place since the works started. I had wondered if the limit would drop permanently.

Because that would mean standing on the wet paint.

Leave it the right way up and chop the top off the "O". It might be the posh bit of Brum but it's still Brum.

Just wondered whether the speed limits could be variable with the first digit being removable - one day the 0 could have a 2 in front, the next day a 3 ......

Have you noticed any large 2's and 3's at the side of the road?

This is Chelmsley Wood. Anything not secured isn't there when you go back for it.
