Ed Balls had allegedly had some turning issues - a 5/7 point turn NOT a political U-turn.

3rd party had view of CCTV and it was EB's Mondeo Reg caught on Camera.
IIRC it was in 2010 that Harriet Harman bumped a car whilst out canvassing in the election - she was fined for failing to stop/report the bump.
I know many cars are bumped & the offender drives off BUT surely, if you are in the Public Eye, it is better to own up and pay the damage rather than make the headlines for the wrong reasons.

I hoped the link would contain the cctv footage showing the 7 point turn.
I've watched a couple of local oldsters making phenomenally heavy, and slow, weather of unparking their neat little jalopies today.
>>> if you are in the Public Eye, it is better to own up and pay the damage
... or you will end up in Private Eye (again).

Exactly, I am always more concerned about the stupidity of a politician doing something sleazy rather than the morality.
I can live with a sleazebag looking after the economy, but I'd prefer not to have a stupid person.

Harriet Harman also had an out of date tax disc. I don't think she was prosecuted for it, of course some pigs are more equal than others.

I did a 7 point turn on my test and passed :-)

I did a 5-pointer on mine, said I could do better than that and offered to do it again. Examiner said nothing wrong with it and to continue. Passed.

I had almost the opposite problem, I did my test in a Triumph Herald convertible, which had a turning circle similar to a London (or Glasgow) taxicab. I had to be careful not to do the turn in one.

Not only sorry but keen to emphasise that it was a private road ... How does saying about "ignorance of the law" go?
|
Apologised for crashing the car...................
still waiting on apology for crashing the economy!
A bit of backgound shows his driving record is somewhat erratic - speeding, jumping red lights....he drives a Mondeo - the driving looks more BMW/Audi?
|
IIRC the UK driving test requirement used to be not for a 'three point turn' but to 'face the vehicle in the opposite direction using forward and reverse gears'.

It is indeed. When I took my test back in 1985 it was called "turn in the road" test, and not a 3 point turn.
As long as you make the turn in a controlled manner, then within reason you can take as many forward and reverse moves as you like. The key is fast steering and slow speed via good clutch control, and not to hit the pavement kerbing.

... and to make effective observation around the vehicle as you perform the manoeuvre.

So a J turn would technically qualify?
Cool !
|
... but a perfectly executed handbrake turn would be a fail?

His driving record "is not the best"!!!
|
He has been fined £900 and given five penalty points for failing to stop (and a £90 surcharge and contribute £85 towards the costs of prosecution)

I am absolutely convinced that the fine etc. will not be converted into expenses by creative accounting.........:-)
|
Still a pretty good deal for him.
Can you imagine the embarrassment and cost of he'd had a few sherbets and stuck around. Not suggesting he had before the litigious or professionally offended step in.
|
This is potentially the man who could be steering the country's finances
and he has difficulty with a 3 point turn!
|
He's a socialist : it's all the Tories' fault.
Socialists don't believe in personal responsibility:=-)
