My "new" car has a Kenwood car radio/CD player.I cannot work out how to switch it off, it shows the word "STANDBY" and other words about DEMO any things flit across it occasionally. I'd rather switch it off than drive around without it in the hole. Any ideas?

Have you tried holding the power switch for a few seconds?
Do you have a model number?
www.manualsonline.com/ might help.
Also a Google around will probably uncover similar sites. Have you tried the Kenwood support site (I guess there is one...)

on my kenwood you hold the "source" button in.

I'm always happy to reciprocate the good advice I've had from the members of this site. Hope you find what you're looking for.

My Sony Headunit would do a simaler thing - when switched off this would put it into Demo mode, and turn it into a Fancy light show. Advertising all the features of the headunit.
This "feature" was turned off via a settings menu that would revert the "demo" into a clock on the display - i would have thought that the Kenwood would be a simaler
