Looks alright (but im using phone atm), but id want to see history, have a drive first. Cheap, but not cheap enough for that gamble.

It looks OK at face value, part ex car going for trade. No mention of any service history, which I imagine is not there, if it was it would be mentioned and probably sell on the forecourt.
I would set a limit of £ 1000, if you get it for that, 12 months motoring is cheap. It's a bit of a gamble but might be worth a punt. I wouldn't buy a Focus at that age personally though, without checking for main faults including the dreaded dashboard failure. New MOT is some comfort though.

Who knows Brompt? I'm wary of buying blind though, if I'd seen it earlier I'd have gone up for a look.

I think if I was going to have a Focus I'd want one of those orange five-cylinder ones with black wheels. Or a black one with orange wheels.

That's the spirit, AC! We pentaphiles have done all we can - or need to - to convert Pat, so it's time we had a new target. You'll do.

Orange is good, too. Not enough orange things about if you ask me. I like those watches with the orange strap that the rugby referees wear. And I received an orange Parker pen the other day. Not sure if I like the way it writes - although it's smoother than Parker ballpoints of yore - but at least I'm not likely to lose it.

Ford used it when they owned Volvo. My mate looked at one but chose Imprezza instead. The Volvo engine is quite thirsty apparently but I would think it would shift quite nicely....

Orange Fords aren't all they're cracked up to be, AC, mine burnt holes in its pistons at 29,000 miles! Magnum Grey ones seem to last longer ;-)

[I should add that mine was a 1979 Signal Orange Escort Estate - 1.3 iirc]

You pays your money and takes your chance. I've just bought a lovely little Suzuki 250 for Mrs. HM from DK's in Stoke, GZ250 Marauder US import, bagged it for 600 quid. Needs a front mudguard, paint re-touching, MOT and registering. Even if she don't like it I should get me money back and a bit more.

Living where we do there's often little choice but to buy blind if you want something a bit out of the ordinary.

Yes, and used prices in dealers round here can be stupid. I looked at a 1.6 Astra this morning, T reg going for £1195. Fair enough it had full history and only one owner, great condition but a lot of cash for a 14-15yo bog standard runaround.
