A strange thing happened to me today - an old motoring joke came true. We were driving home from the weekly market and not far from home a car came towards us on the wrong side of the road (not that unusual in France, I know). I flashed my high intensity headlights (which do tend to annoy people) at the woman driver. She moved over and as she came past she shouted ‘cochon’ (pig) at me. I glared back at her and drove on round the corner - to find some pigs in the road. I swear I am not making this up... Reply to this message | Report message       3

My motorcycling friend an I got rather the worse for the local brew in a town called Realf on the Furkastrasse, Switzerland...bravely, with me as a pillion, we rode back perfectly well to the nearby campsite. Some foreign buffoon in a Mini crashed into the crash-barrier as we approached him - anyone would have thought we were on the the incorrect side of the road....(hic). Thank you all for brightening a dull and dismal, snow-threatened Saturday. Interestingly, I know where the pigs came from, and I'll be getting to know at least one of them rather more closely in about April. Very nice. I once ordered solomillo something when in Segovia in Spain and got half of a little piglet. I'll never forget. It must be my weekend for animal experiences. We were driving along a back road we'd never used before, not far from Oradour and in the middle of nowhere, with no-one and no dwelling in sight, we saw a baby llama looking over the hedge.
