I've just seen a hearse drawn by two black horses. That's the way I want to go on my final journey.

Cheapskate, Sent my grandfather off with a team of 4.

You could have waited until he'd passed away first.

That was exactly what it looked like, except that the horses were blacker, and the hearse had a coffin inside.

The Krays always knew how to put on a good funeral with plenty of horses.

Daily sight round here with Britain's biggest municipal cemetery round the corner.
The Co-op in the village took over an old Gaumont cinema many years ago. They run 3 hearses, Black, White and Silver plus an Austin 20hp hearse together with the usual Mercs, etc.
The black horsedrawns are much favoured by the West Indian community.
Gang and druggie funerals often have a few outriders in blacked out Civics blocking the traffic at junctions on the route. The hearse and the nags are often taken away afterwards by van and horsebox, loaded in the big layby at the back of the cemetery.
Coming home yesterday, I noticed a white Merc hearse parked just around the corner outside a house. 190 type I think, Looked in good nick, I guess it'd been sold into private hands and resprayed.

See a few around South Birmingham, usually followed by a line of Transits. As a mark of respect for the deceased they only dig a shallow grave so the weeds show through like their tarmac.

They knew how to put on a discreet disappearance with plenty of concrete as well.
They weren't always flash and mawkish. They had a practical unsentimental side, to give the devils their due.

So this forum IS Gods waiting room. Confirmation.

Yeah, so don't mess with us.

The slower the better.
I always like to see a hearse holding up traffic, even if I am the one being held up.
It's a final chance for the deceased to cause a bit of fuss.

I was pleased that none of the bystanders/onlookers clapped. Dead people should be treated with reverence.

some like clapping and the such like, you'd be surprised what people ask for at the funeral.

Yes. A friend passed away a few years ago, 40 years old, a Met Police copper. He had asked that nobody wear black, rather that they wore the brightest clothes they could lay hands on. All speeches/readings should be amusing and light hearted, and every one should get utterly roasted and have a huge, drunken carousal at the wake. We didn't let him down. Apart from the fact that a friend and I didn't get the message about clothing and turned up in black suits and ties. Felt like utter heels.

Thats was his last practical joke played on you.
Shades of Dell Boy and Rodney turning up to a funeral as Batman and Robin.
