Hardly " The findings" since it doesn't seem that the list of heinous crimes reported actually covers causing the accident.

Interim findings i would have said from that, no mention of the causes of the crash only that the mini bus operator was uninsured for passengers and failed to maintain his vehicles with due accord or records, and has lost his O licence.

He somehow slipped past the VOSA net and his registered vehicles (the one he was driving wasn't apparently his anyway) must presumably have been passing MOTs without problem or he would have come up on the alerts system.

If completely uninsured what happens to the claims of the victims or their families?

Must be a Motor Insurers' Bureau (or current equivalent) job, surely?

MIB. Although its a lot more difficult to get a ton of cash then if you're claiming against a specific policy.

I did wonder if MIB would be the answer, but the claims and costs for this crash will run to £millions.

Still no ones been prosecuted so no one is yet held to account, if it goes against the lorry company then insurance is unlikely to be a problem anyway* if it goes against the mini bus operator will he end up living in a caravan by the time they've finished?

* slightly off topic but its been said that crash for cash scum often target lorries because their insurance is likely to be kosher.

Did the lorry driver really need nicking?

I know all this stuff has come out after an investigation and therefore hindsight comes into play..but..just because he/she is driving something big and unforgiving that shouldn't mean an automatic visit to the local custody unit.

I think lorry drivers have come to expect it these days and indeed we'd now be surprised if it didn't happen under all fatal road accident circumstances, seems like other irregular happenings to have public support or rather public complacency, lorry drivers arn't exactly popular.

In this case the lorry driver could yet be prosecuted.

No idea, but it does say that the driver is still on bail having been arrested as being under suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Isn't the maximum sentence for that 14 years or so?

Just because the minibus driver has improper documentation/insurance/etc doesn't let the other driver off the hook if they caused the crash.

That report is about a different incident, and there's no suggestion that the minibus he was driving on the day of the M62 accident wasn't insured.

That report has nothing to do with the crash in any way the BBC have merely linked the VOSA thing to the crash because the same guy was involved. Its pretty poor reporting IMHO.

A minibus driver has admitted causing the death of a teenager in a crash on the M62 in West Yorkshire as he drove a group of women to a hen party.

James Johnson, 64, pleaded guilty to causing her death by dangerous driving.
