Pictured this morning on my way to the newsagent. No-one around. It may have been there all night.

Woss yore problem mate?

Sigh...

When I come across this, I'm very tempted to walk over the roof of the parked car.

Or at least paint some footprints over it.

A mum I know has some sharp edges on her pram, and has been known to try to scrape through...

Irritating I agree, but perhaps there was nowhere else to put it?

There was plenty of space on the road, just not right outside the house.

There's a couple of people round here use white sticks as well as pushchairs, mobility scooters........................

He could have parked across the end of the driveway, in the road - since he has blocked it anway.

At least it's parked on a vehicle crossover where the pavement is strengthened to cater for the weight of a vehicle. The thing which irritates me is vehicles parked on parts of the pavement which aren't designed to take the weight of a vehicle, as this can lead to damage to both the pavement and to underground services. tinyurl.com/qh98kwx

Someone was moaning the other day about a car parked on the pavement near our village shop and she had to walk onto the road to get around it with her pushchair.

2 days later her own car was parked on the pavement outside the same shop forcing everyone to walk onto the road to get around it.

Was so tempting to leave a note on the windscreen saying what a hypocrite she was.

Better still, leave a note saying that parking on the pavement can damage the pavement and underground services. I think most pavement parkers aren't aware of that risk.
Some things really annoy me - Dutchie
Can't see people who park this way taking any notice of a note.

Police should have a word if there are any about.

They're all retired and posting on here.

Its an issue where we live. Its a modern development so the planners decided that if people had a garage plus 1 parking space then that would be fine. Reality is that people use the garage space for storage.
Also some of the houses have families where the eldest child has now started driving, so there is an extra car, and being newer roads the constraints of land mean that the roads are quite narrow.

We are lucky in being on of the first to move in, so we secured a plot with a double garage and a drive that you might just get 4 cars on at a pinch, but as the development has expanded the plots have got smaller.

Local planners need to accept how people lead their lives rather than trying to force their ideals onto people who will not adopt them.

Agreed

Planning rules should require off street parking for a car for each bedroom plus 1.

At one stage we had four resident cars, at times we have two resident and three transient cars now and that is still with an empty bedroom. Transient meaning an overnight visitor.

But that would mean the builders make less money

>> But that would mean the builders make less money

No that would mean the price of houses beyond anyones pocket.
Some things really annoy me - Lygonos
>> No that would mean the price of houses beyond anyones pocket.

Which would in turn lower the cost of land for development, and bring down the cost of housing with adequate parking, etc etc.
Some things really annoy me - Zero
wot? of course it wouldnt. The higher the cost of houses the higher the cost of land
Some things really annoy me - Lygonos
>> The higher the cost of houses the higher the cost of land

Not if, as you suggest, no one can afford the houses.

The pavement and kerb has long sunken down to the same level as the main road with parking abuse on it.

Your village ain't got pavements, just some straw laid down on the side of the horse track.

It did until you visited.

Imagine the van reversed about 3 ft or so, so that it blocks the path of the car parked on the road, as well as anyone walking on the pavement. My neighbour will often do this if anyone has the audacity to park outside her house.

Having been the victim of car vandalism in the past, I normally wouldn't wish it on anyone, but sometimes, just sometimes....
Some things really annoy me - Bill Payer
It's not just people who drive vans that do this - my road is very similar in layout and when next door neighbours sons (one an NHS Chief Exec and the other who owns a decent size business) visit, they park in exactly the same way, despite the road itself being pretty wide and clear. They're either thick or arrogant.

I mentioned it in a jokey way to the NHS son and he seemed completely baffled, although perhaps I was too subtle. I should have beaten his car with a baseball bat!

My friend’s wife (she’s a friend as well, obviously) is in a wheelchair. She has no personal mobility, having quite advanced MS. The wheelchair is specially adapted for her needs and because of this is heavier than the normal type. Electrification is not an option. Navigating full height kerbs with it is a strain on my friend and he isn’t weak in body. Looking at the photograph in the link an obstruction like that would be a significant impediment to progress. If the grass verge is at all soft then it is also impassable because the front wheels of the wheelchair will dig in. How far would he have to go back to avoid the obstruction? A few selfish idiots like this obstructing the pavement soon curtail any outings. It is deliberately, thoughtlessly, selfishly arrogant.

Picture the scene - I had ridden to Llanberis (sort of not quite on the way home) from MoTing the Scoot this morning. I stopped to fuel up and buy a paper and decided to take in some rays and read the paper, when this happened. In the distance you can see my scoot (carefully and legally parked) this buffoon in the Volvo parks on the yellows right in front of me - note how far the idiot would have had to walk if he wasn't lazy - easily park two cars legally in there.

"the idiot"

Blue badge owner? They frequently don't have much common sense. And, oh yes, that's another class of motorist I 'watch out for'.
Some things really annoy me - Armel Coussine
I don't give a damn about people parking on the triple yellows provided they aren't causing an obstruction. There's far too much paint on roads if you ask me. (Of course I fully understand Rob's point about the legal parkers just a few yards away).

But then I am The Thing from Another World, constantly wound up and confused by this one.

The driver was a fit looking (in the old fashioned sense of the word) youth

An off-duty young copper perhaps...

Mmm - Volvo? Sure it wasn't an Audi in disguise?

Yeah, gave that some thought on my travels - quite a number of black scruffy looking A3s about !

Our village has a line of shops either side but high kerbs. It also has a zebra crossing with dropped kerb. I can guarantee that every day when I go past there is a car parked on the dropped kerb blocking access to zebra. 20 yards down road is a cashpoint on one side and a newsagents on other side. No matter what time of day you go down the road there is at least one car parked either side of road to use these facilities and causing a jam.
A maximum of 50 yards from all these facilities is a car park, in which I have never failed to find a space.
On many occasions when passing these facilities one can observe the person who has parked inconsiderately. I find myself muttering under my breath, "That's why you are fat - couldn't be bothered to walk 50 yards from car park."
