I have just received one of these:-
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-SoundRacer-Sound-Racer-V8-Car-Gadget-Fathers-Day-/290572613722?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43a77a385a
and its awesome.
Its a device you plug into the cigar lighter and then tune the radio to the frequency displayed on the device.
It then detects the revs rising and falling and you hear a V8 Selby soundtrack as you accelerate.Watch the videos at the bottom of the link.
Its only a bit of fun but the sound does become addictive!
Well worth buying.
(Shop around other than ebay because i paid £19.99 delivered from Amazon)

I referred to that device the other day.
All you need is a damn great speaker transmitting the sound externally.
;>)

Fantastic ! Everyone should have one of those !

Poor Shonky.
I did wonder if it would adjust for a diesel but Altea man answered that.

I am so going to set one up in my father in law's 1.4 Fiesta without telling him !

Well, I suppose it's got to be better than nothing but it won't give you that rumble in the guts that you get from the real thing.
Me? I just get the Chevy (on Texas spec. exhausts) out of the garage :-)

I'm going to experiment with my old active sub in the boot, that might give the rumble effect, not as good as cauli broccoli and runner beans mind..;)

I wish I knew of a way to rig one up in Rattle's Panda without him knowing...
:-)

I had that very thought myself.

Ha its brill, great fun running it through the normal car speakers, then i put my old active sub back in the boot and plugged, and hoof yeehaa its a hoot, can really feel that V8 throbbing through the shell.
No its not quite as good as my old Mach1 Mustang with side pipes but at least i can have the V8 soundtrack and brakes as well which wasn't the case before.
Like a puppy with two tails here, can't wait to drive to work Tuesday morn.
:-)

Sort of reminds me of the in-car synthesizers y'all could get in the 80's, I tuned a car with one fitted, took it out for a road test after I'd worked my magik on it, flew around the roundabout by Westminster Br. and set the synthesizer to sound like old bill.
Ab-so-lute-ly brilliant, and very, very effective in clearing mimsers out of ones way ... totally illegal mind ;)

Watching Top Gear tonight it seems that Renault fits a version of this as standard to its current Hot Hatch thing.
