Couldn't have put it better myself AC, very stylish! I'm afraid I was a naughty schoolboy and on the road at 15 in an open top MGB. Misjudged the queue of traffic approaching a roundabout, went for the central reservation, drove down it and rejoined at the head of the queue. Not sure what the other drivers must have thought but I scared myself...
