As a result of a question in work today. Does this category of write off show on the V5 ?
|
I dont think so, hence the advice to have an HPI check carried out

I couldn't find a definitive answer this morning anywhere...

Possibly because "cat d" is a voluntary code, with no regulation or rules over notification to the DVLA. Most as sold as repairable.

Take a look at section 3 of the V5 registration document.Special notes-
Substantially repaired and/or accident damaged.
|
As Zero said, it is voluntary and there is no requirement to inform the DVLA

Thanks - that's almost the conclusion I'd arrived at having grazed in a number of sites whilst talking to this lady. Her car was HPI'd and found to be so - there was no reference on the V5.

No. The insurance company will know though as will HPI etc as already mentioned. Vehicle likely to be 20% less value than a non cat D.

Thanks for the clarity. Bit of a nonsense though eh ?
