 Toyota Yaris - key replacement - slowdown avenue
madf . i only ever have had one key for my yaris 2002 d4d assume it was the spare key. does the master key remotely unlock the doors . is it a 2 button key?. or does it look exactly like the spare key . and does it have a code number?

My daughters S/H V reg Yaris came with three keys.
Two have remote functions and the third is a simple key.
I keep the simple key and it is in my hand so I can say it has a tiny alloy tag on it with one letter and 4 numbers.
I assume this means something to Toyota.

Some main dealers, supplied withproof of ownership documents etc can sort out replacement keys. This may incur a £££s charge for reprogramming the ECU.
I would expect Toyota to offer this service.

would timpsons be able to copy a key and copy transonder. [ i hope they would ask for proof of ownership]
i make it a rule to never buy a car that only comes with one key. but then break my own rules.

Timpsons can do some sorts but not others and the service available depends on the branch. They couldn't do one for our Berlingo - we wanted a third for The Lad - as process requires a reader connected to the car and a unique card supplied at new.

IIRC they said a branch in Oxford had the requisite kit - the Cit dealer was a lot nearer.

Sorry late to this.

Henry K correct (of course!)

Charge for new key ? Toyota c £150. (Long time ago so don't trust that number)

Timpson don't usually code keys. The spare with details is required for Toyota to encode new ones: or your car handbook although their online system, will have details.. but I think they like to check...

just walked down to local independent locksmith, showed him the yaris key asked what could he do for me. He popped it into a code reading devise just out of my sight . and said yer can do that. So for £ wait for it 30 pounds all in, i get a replica key plus asteel key that will open doors, and security code number . result!
