 Peterborough to Mersea Island - which route? - Fenlander
Journey I haven't done in years... Peterborough to Mersea Island (Colchester). Google says A1/A14/A120. I'm more familiar with going A1/A14 to the east coast as far as Ipswich before going north/south. Seems doing that and dropping down to Colchester on the A12 is only a few miles/mins different according to Google.

Wonder which is best?

My satnav says south onto the M11 then A120.

Not sure, but in that thing you've got now I'd choose the route with the most corners and the fewest cameras ! Oh and don't forget the Matt Monro CD and the dodgy sunglasses...

If I was in a hurry it would be A1/A14/A12. If I wasn't I would trek Cross country Cambridge/Halstead/Colchester.

I'd check traffic hold-ups first. A14 closed for several hours earlier this week - not anything new.

Yes A14 an ever present problem when it's part of your route.

I'd not thought of the cross country Zero. It's actually the shortest and might be a possibility.

No problem with speed cameras Humph, they are only put in places where the roads are dangerous surely and I'd never be going quickly there anyway... elsewhere perhaps.

The Matt Monroe reference nearly passed me by. However this is more my style... 156 gets a good showing in snippets. If you can be bothered look in at 1min 10sec... lots of motoring content. Going to need the spacesaver at 2:13.

Not too far away... just a couple of hours drive. Filmed in Ouarzazate, Morocco. So if you see a taxi turn up at the hotel and it's that 156 wait for another.
