 ANPR van ? with a sat dish on top - henry k
In recent weeks I have twice seen an apparently unmarkedTransit sized van with a sat dish on its roof parked on a central road island on Hampton Court Way. ( near the junction to the level crossing )

A very unusual place to park so I am guessing it has some sort of authority to park there. It was obviously not in the usual road side location for normal ANPR tasks and I saw absolutely no marked bikes or cars in support.

Was it just watching for for a vehicle passing with a back up Q car hiding close by ?
Any ideas?

Did it have a view of the level crossing?

Brtish Transport Police are currently having a clamp down on level crossing chancers.

That is a possibility if the van had side windows for the cameras.

Someone felt the need to link the van to something. Many TV news uplink vans are unmarked. Government secrecy would cover most other reasons. :-)

It did not look like a TV uplink van. We recently had a fleet of them parked for many days quite near to us so I am familiar with the sight of them.

I guess we will never know what it was doing :-(
