Honda CR-V III - 1,000 miles report - Falkirk Bairn
X-trail was a manual and although low mileage, 100% reliable in it's 5 years I needed an auto. Low mileage dictated a petrol so the choices were limited if I wanted 4wd and spend say £18K + value of the X-trail.

Last of the CRV£'s - Crv 2.0 EX Auto bought brand new 10 mls on clock, £20,700 + mats + locking nuts + odds = £21,000

1,000+ run up in 8 weeks and the car has been 100%, as I would expect /hoped for.

Pluses

Quieter than X-trail
Auto works well, my leg/feet problems are in the past for driving. Walking still problematic.
Smooth quiet engine.
Lots of toys but 400+ pages of manual is hard work + 200 pages for SatNav
Comfortable seats with good adjustments esp the driver's seat

Minuses

Lacks any real power but drives OK for the OAP Owner
Fuel consumption averaging 31mpg overall. 250 mile round trip at weekend yielded 35mpg, measured brim to brim and not just a computed average - 95% route was Motorway/dual carriageway
SatNav - Garmin / Tom Tom etc are better. The Honda system works OK but not really user friendly as the £150+ ones most people use.

Happy enough with car but would have liked a petrol car with a wee bit of go - Turbo/Auto Forester would have been nice but no longer available in UK.

£460 RFL is quite steep in year one but I look upon it as not costing me anything - the more I spend on Road Tax does not make me suffer, it only means less saved that month and therefore £460 less for the 3 x sons when I depart! Hopefully not in the near future!

We were talking about my old CRV diesel. My wife liked it more than me. It did what it says on the tin, and did it well. Occasionally miss it. I have been sort of half looking at the new version - really don't know what to do when change time comes for the three.

>>Lacks any real power

150hp is 150hp - don't be frightened to whip it's booty.

Our old Mk2 happily ran to 6700rpm on kickdown and sounded all the smoother for it.

Good Report FB. I imagine it'll grow on you.

>>really don't know what to do when ...

Have a try of a Squashy ( Qashqai ) Rob. My wife's one has sort of crept up on me lately. I actually prefer it as it is in base trim and engine to the all singing one I used to have. Bit like Mikey and his base Roomster tale. I nick the Nissan at weekends when she doesn't need it. She has never expressed any desire to drive my Merc. Says she quite likes being driven in it but it doesn't chime her driver's bells. It ( the E Class ) is indeed a very nice thing to be in and drive but the Qashqai makes me feel like I'm on holiday for some twisted reason.
