X-trail was a manual and although low mileage, 100% reliable in it's 5 years I needed an auto. Low mileage dictated a petrol so the choices were limited if I wanted 4wd and spend say £18K + value of the X-trail.
Last of the CRV£'s - Crv 2.0 EX Auto bought brand new 10 mls on clock, £20,700 + mats + locking nuts + odds = £21,000
1,000+ run up in 8 weeks and the car has been 100%, as I would expect /hoped for.
Pluses
Quieter than X-trail
Auto works well, my leg/feet problems are in the past for driving. Walking still problematic.
Smooth quiet engine.
Lots of toys but 400+ pages of manual is hard work + 200 pages for SatNav
Comfortable seats with good adjustments esp the driver's seat
Minuses
Lacks any real power but drives OK for the OAP Owner
Fuel consumption averaging 31mpg overall. 250 mile round trip at weekend yielded 35mpg, measured brim to brim and not just a computed average - 95% route was Motorway/dual carriageway
SatNav - Garmin / Tom Tom etc are better. The Honda system works OK but not really user friendly as the £150+ ones most people use.
Happy enough with car but would have liked a petrol car with a wee bit of go - Turbo/Auto Forester would have been nice but no longer available in UK.
£460 RFL is quite steep in year one but I look upon it as not costing me anything - the more I spend on Road Tax does not make me suffer, it only means less saved that month and therefore £460 less for the 3 x sons when I depart! Hopefully not in the near future!
