Can anyone recommend a good bike mechanic in the west sussex area. Must be mobile as bike not starting. thanks in advance.

Depends where you are in the county, but I can recommend SBS Motorcycles in Lancing - they do a fine job of keeping my leggy old Bandit running sweetly.

I remember that they can collect bikes and deliver them back but I'd imagine this will cost extra.
