Things you see from a bike seat...,. - R.P.
In a fist waving gesture to the weather took the bike to work. A55 across the island is pretty quiet at 8.00am these days and I was making steady progress north of the NSL in lane2. I was overtaken at a considerable lick by a rough looking X reg Focus - driven by a lone woman - she must have been doing near enough a ton, and she was texting ! No wonder people die.

At least it proves that a rough looking X reg Focus is capable of near enough a ton.

I was riding at between 75 and 80 (not really looking at the speedo) when she flew past me.

OK, you were both well over the limit but who cares except wimps and mimsers?

But can you really be 100% certain that she was texting, given that she 'flew past' and you must have had at least one eye on the road? Perhaps she was just making a phone call to a stored number. That only needs a single glance or perhaps two.

I wouldn't do it at 100 myself especially when overtaking even a well-driven bike, but then I'm very clumsy with all this modern miniaturised technology. I know the whippersnappers are much better at it, and often scold them for doing it.

I'm not seriously doubting you Rob. But texting?

Yes... She had one of those very large comedy Android jobbies, she had it perched up against the door frame and she was texting...!

Maybe she was Marty Feldman's sister, and could use either eye to each task?

(See my post elsewhere, where local plod confiscate phones. Sealed into a box, and come and fetch it tomorrow, after 24 hrs have elapsed.)

Well how amazing. At least it wasn't an ordinary mobile held in her left hand but a big thing presumably with big buttons not too far off her sight line.

A couple of says ago I was held up by an appalling woman mimser who had a pratnav stuck to the windscreen, no kidding, absolutely in her line of sight, straight ahead. Had I been Old Bill her feet wouldn't have touched the ground till she was in the cells.

A couple of years ago I was behind an LGV who was weaving slightly. When I passed him, I could see that we was reading a paperback at the wheel!
