hi, i am thinking about going for the co op young drivers insurance which includes installing a
smartbox, my question is does anyone know if the smartbox measures the amount of miles you do in the car?

Yes it will do. It records everything about the car's use: Time of day, speed, location as well as miles covered.

1. average speeds on different types of road
2. how fast and hard the car accelerates or brakes
3. what times of the day the car is driven
4. how fast corners are taken.

No mention of how many miles driven.

Smartbox quotations may not necessarily be cheaper. In my experience insuring a 17/18/19 year old the biggest factor in premiums is having older mature people as additional named drivers.
Also, bizarrely, a large old unfashionable car with a big engine was much cheaper than a small-engined modern car.
