Toyota Auris - Oil for 1.33 - Auristocrat
I ahve a 2009 Auris 1.33 whihc uses 0W-20 oil. I want to buy a litre for topping up. Does anyone know of a branded oil of this viscosity? I've looked at Mobil 1 - but they don't sell their 0W-20 in the UK

You could always try Toyota...

Seriously, sometimes dealers sell oil at good prices.

are you sure it needs 0W-20? thats pretty unusual oil for a general car.

Yes - the handbook definitely says 0W-20.
5W-30 can be used (preseumably for topping up), but should be replaced with 0W-20 at the next oil change - so may as well just stay with the 0W-20.
The handbook states the cars are filled with 0W-20 at the factory, and this grade oil promotes easier starting, etc - which as the car has Toyota's stop start system, is why they recommend such a thin oil.

Have to be your Toyota dealer then.

The Opie product finder suggests 5W-30 which is more mainstream these days.

0W-20 may be for 'uber-economy'. My 2005 CR-V came with a pamphlet that suggests 10W-40 is recommended, but 0W-30 is the 'ultimate protection' suggested.

The handbook suggests 0W-20 to 5W-40 can be used at any temp, 10W-40 above -20c, and 15W-40 above -15c.

As long as it's clean and changed regularly the viscosity index is not likely to be that important.

Makes sense :-)
