It probably gives a better insight to the circuit than on a bike. Wonderfully spoken commentary too. Proper English Mate!!

So how fast does a bike average - would a modern performance car be allowed to ever try. Sure to be faster than a Rover 827.

The Zero Emissions Electric bikes managed to lap at the ton this year earning a 10000 pound pot for the rider.

The lap record is:-

John McGuinness Honda CBR1000RR 2009 17:12.30 131.578 miles per hour (211.754 km/h) (Wiki)

The big "stock" bikes were pulling a 180mph + on the straight bits this year.... some pulling 200mph..

Mark Higgins averaged 115 in a Subaru with a 150MPH 'moment'.

So a Nissan GTR likely to be faster. But not many likely to try.

EDIT: Looking at the Subaru footage - very dangerous with spectators? Okay the bikes are dangerous too but not going to do as much damage.

Years ago (18?) I recall a friend/business associate of someone getting into Rally driving. And had lots of money. So bought the best they could.... and crashed and killed themselves. Rally co-driver was badly injured.

But driving around the IoM at speed looked fun. Even a Passat diesel could be fun there. Well maybe.

Tony Pond seems to so it a lot smoother with less fuss (and has a 145 mph on the clock) in his standard production Rover though.

Wow, petrol was 45p/l, diesel 41p/l at that ESSO garage.

What a cracking drive. Perhaps if Rover had made more of it publicity wise they might have shifted some more of those bland barges.

We used them for a while. They were quick but suffered from torque steer and a few complained that they aggravated lower back problems. At the time they were alongside 24V Senators and the new T5 Volvos so they had some competition.

That Honda V6 was a peach of a thing. The 800 also wasn't a bad steer.

Even better with the 2.0 turbo under the bonnet. The Vitesse Sport was a cracking car.
