I'd love to see a clamper try it on with this whilst the owner fires it up!
Enjoy.

Aha. Magnifico.... but not all that practical it seems.

Didn't this car feature on TG or 5th Gear a few months ago?

Brutus was on TG

Not a clip from programme, just the car making noise, heat and generally being silly in a fun sort of way.

This thing is wonderful. I really, genuinely adore it.

It has been at the TG track at Dunsfold.

Wouldn't go that far myself. It's actually pretty horrible in an impressive sort of way. Unleashing 3,000 hp even through Bentley 8 litre transmission and quite fat tyres for a car that old might easily destroy the gearbox or final drive. And the steering, with all that engine over the front wheels, takes huge amounts of effort.
Only for the brave (and strong), preferably on a smooth banked circuit.

SUch a shame the brooklands circuit was (partly) destroyed. In the old days someone would have logged up an average 150mph lap in something like that!

Packard Bentley was on BBC Breakfast today at about 0811 and 0829. Filming for somebody else though (perhap Discovery channel) and the noise (ahh didums) was disturbing them.
Proper studios have soundproofing etc.

What is causing fire from exhaust?

It runs on Greenpeace Activists. Their hair shirts burn very well I hear.

Petrol! Seriously, a rich mixture that has a high unburned content - ie using an enrichment device for starting, faced with a sudden expansion while still hot will often ignite, even if the cylinder contents aren't still alight.
I suspect the Packard engine will often mis-fire when cold but having 12 cylinders carries on tuning just fine. So that gives another source of rich petrol vapour.
