I got sent this link. I don't know really what to make of it, I'm no legal expert. Has he got a leg to stand on legally speaking? Anyone ever seen anything like this before?

I haven't bothered to go through it all, but it would appear he's using some 'right to travel' to avoid vehicle excise licence and insurance.

I wouldn't dispute his freedom to use the highway, but if it's in a motor vehicle other requirements exist. Note he's wearing a seat belt!

What was on the driver's piece of paper that he showed to the policeman?

There was a somewhat similar thread called "Failing the attitude Test" or similar wording a few weeks ago. A woman in East sussex {one of AC'c proteges, I expect ;-) } was claiming that as a free person she didn't have to show any documentation. We never did find out what happened when it went to court - did we?

Was there another video in this case? What was the follow up?

Yes there are 2 others following to his arrest as he wouldn't give any more information than his first name, dave. That was it, no address no DOB, said he wasn't consious when it happened so couldn't remember it! There's a 45 min video with him in a radio interview but I didn't bother. I think the car was crushed in the end but I'm not sure.

The paper was a list of people he'd written to, DoT, DVLA etc telling them he was going to do this.

Oh no! Not another one.

Yes, it occurred to me too that this geezer's come-on with the fuzz was reminiscent of the common law woman's the other day (certainly not a protegée of mine Duncan - have you any idea how far East Sussex is from here?). The same persistent, slightly rude mirror-image nerd's version of the 'police manner'.

Is there a subversive group of nerdish punk law students behind this, or is it a fringe political party's enterprise? We will see.

There's loads of them on youtube AC, refusal to have tv licence, driving licence fill the census in etc.

One of the very few of the Census refuseniks I came across was one of these....wearing his anarchist tee shirt but living in a new Housing Association flat. I helpfully pointed out the contradiction to him, don't think he understood.

What happened RP? What was the primary objection for not filling it in, was it a refusal to give a name DOB etc, did they get fined?

I think the car was crushed Ted.
