I do recall talking over dinner to a designer from the Ford Southampton plant in the mid 90's who told me that no single numbered component on the then current Transit cost Ford more than £25 to purchase.
Obviously this was any single item not constructed assemblies or units.
As always

This thread reminds me of the above Johnny Cash song.
I also recall my dad telling me, when as a teenager I had the bright idea of constructing my own car from components, that the components would cost me more than a factory assembled car.

Well done GKN - the only Union Jack.

Top 5 suppliers by revenue for each component stream - so presumably there will be X number of smaller suppliers beneath these.
Interesting that Denso, Toyoda Gossei and Toyota Boshoku are part of the Toyota Group of companies.

This seems to be an American analysis ?

I worked for a Clutch manufacturer in the early-mid 1990s. A clutch plate and cover and bearing set cost on average £33 to make.
This cost was the parts and labour: (friction rings from Ferodo, rivets, castings, pressings, packaging etc... and assembly costs)
