Does anyone does performance chips for the 140bhp TDCi? I am perfectly happy with the performance, but wouldn't mind a few more horses and torques. Would it cause me grief with the autobox?

Done my van years ago when still in warranty. Best £ ever. No MPG penalty either. Just more 'driveable'

It's been done on several S-Max's - if I remember correctly the 140 TDCi was rolling road tested at 147hp BEFORE remaping and went to mid 170's once remapped.

Go to smaxownersclub.co.uk and send a PM to Paul (one of the moderators). He has a 2.5T S-Max now but used to have a 2.0 TDCi.

Good Luck

I used 'CNL remapping' for my wife's 2.0D X Type estate....transformed the thing, wish i'd done it before.

No bulls crap, I promise.

They reckon it's gone up from 130 to at least 165 bhp, maybe nearer the 170 mark. Torque up from 330Nm to about late 390's.

Fuel consumption has improved noticeably by about 3.5 mpg.

Amazingly, the power band has become more usable, you can rev it a bit more. More importantly though when you get to 1800 revs, you've got so much more oomph. You don't need to bother changing down, just leave it in the higher gear.

I liked CNL 's customer service ethic. They were recommended by a mate who runs a well known car website.

According to Superchips most TDCi 130 (Mondeo and X-Type) are about 150 before they start.

The S-Max is a different engine though while described as 140 are apparently also around 150, 154bhp here.

I would be concerned about the auto box.

........I would be concerned about the auto box......

That's my thought as well. The car is certainly far happier around town than the XC90 which lumbered everywhere.
