Now that' a real 'Oooooh F... (flippin heck)' moment!
|
|
What do you say when you ring the boss up to explain ?

'Tout va très bien, Madame la marquise... ' Anyone know that song? the Marquise is reassured repeatedly by a senior domestic that everything's fine, but it slowly emerges that apart from the lady's grey mare having died, her husband the Marquis has been ruined and committed suicide... great fun.

Surreal scene, it sort of gently slipped off the edge as if it were a childs model.

@ AC;Blaster Bates used to tell a similar story.
His Lordship returned from a trip, was met by his deadpan butler at the station and asked him for news of events at home.
Bad news, m'lord; your little dog's dead.
Good grief, that's a shame, such a nice little chap; how did he die?
The mare kicked him in the head, m'lord.
How tragic; and they were such good friends. How did that happen?
It was when the stables were burning down, m'lord.
Good grief, d'you mean to say the stables have burned down?
Yes m'lord; it was a spark from the manor house.
(Rising incredulity) THE MANOR HOUSE HAS BURNED DOWN??
Yes, m'lord; it was the candles on Her ladyship's coffin....
THIS IS APPALLING! IS THERE NO GOOD NEWS?
Yes, m'lord. With the house burning down, it warmed the ground...... and the daffodils are up three weeks early.

Should I mention winter tyres?
Exit stage left, pursued by all and sundry.... ;-)

Especially for the truck driver that went down with lot.
Apparently he survived with some broken bones.
